La Cañada was the first municiple course on the Costa del Sol. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones who also designed other courses in the area such as Valderrama and Real Club de Golf Sotogrande.

Situated high above Guadiaro, a town that proportionally presents the highest number of amateurs in Spain, it offers very well maintained greens, an important variety of autochtonous trees and the glen on the 9th hole which gives name to the golf course.

Clubs, carts and buggies can be hired, and there is bar and restaurant service.
